The VinPOWER VIN Decoder has been the go-to VIN decoder (encoder) for more than 25 years, serving over 20 automotive industries. By providing real data from real sources, VinPOWER remains the foundation of all VIN solutions and services provided by ESP Data Solutions, Inc. (ESP), also known as VinDecoder.com. VinPOWER’s original VIN decoder software was an MS ActiveX DLL released in 1997, later superseded by .NET in 2005. VinPOWER for Java was released in 2002, and VinPOWER for Python was released in 2020. A truly compliant VIN is an alphanumeric 17-digit VIN that passes the check digit formula. The word “decoder” is defined as a device or program that translates encoded data into its original format.

VINs are meant to be decoded for true ISO 3779 and NHTSA Title 49 compliance. We are not a VIN lookup company. ESP has been the only VIN data supplier to collect and catalog more than 750,000 original OEM VIN data sheets dating back to 1981. If you’re not using VinPOWER, your data may be noncompliant, or worse, inaccurate.
VinPOWER for .NET is designed for Microsoft Windows developers using .NET technology (its predecessor was an ActiveX DLL). It integrates into almost any MS development project as a standard .NET object, simply by importing the VinPOWER library, and provides the full functionality of a true VIN decoder with VIN validation and verification.
VinPOWER for Java is designed for Unix and Linux enterprise developers. It integrates into almost any development project, and the VinPOWER for Java library is optimized for multithreaded, thread-safe, heavy-load processing with linear response times at request volumes of more than 2,000 threads.
VinPOWER for Python brings the same true VIN decoding, validation, and verification to Python’s interpreted, object-oriented environment, making it easy to integrate into modern development projects.
